Hello
Today in school all the teachers ( yes all of them ) were discussing the pros and cons of the uniforms.
The topic didn't progress since we were talking about subjects which were already addressed previously.
Yesterday, some students in grade 6 started a petition about the dress code involving the pants/jeans.
Their argument was they should be able to wear multiple colors rather than just black pants.
About 60 something people signed the petition from grade 1 through secondary 4 in one day.
Emma and I approached the principal to ask her if we could interview, record, and then post the interview on this blog, which she accepted. ( Expect this post soon ).
I feel satisfied that the teachers are taking our opinions into consideration but, I don't believe they understand what we don't enjoy about the uniforms. It's about our freedom of expression that allows us to choose what we want and express to ourselves through our clothing choices.
Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Humanitarian Rights says that:
" Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."
